"Nickel" steel, suitable as a softer and lighter component in nickel-containing Damascus steel, in combination with 1.2842 steel, which we also stock.

Steel 1.2767 (19655) is designed for cold working; it has a high nickel content, is highly hardenable and tough, even for larger cross-sections. It has high notch toughness. It can be hardened in oil, under vacuum or in air. It is particularly suitable for polishing, etching and embossing. It exhibits very good wear resistance and relatively good dimensional stability during heat treatment. Steel 1.2767 has reduced machinability. Tensile strength 880 MPa. Hardness in soft-annealed condition: max. 260 HB. Achievable hardness after hardening: 56 HRC.

Processing temperatures:

Forging– 850–1050°C
Annealing– 610–650°C – heat through for 4 hours, cool slowly in the furnace.
Hardening– 830–870°C
Tempering– 160–220°C

Maximum achievable hardness after tempering – 56 HRC.

The steel is cut; it may have burrs and surface corrosion may be present.
